NORTH SPRINGS LITTLE LEAGUE: BASEBALL AGE
The "baseball age" of a player refers to the age a child is considered to be for the purposes of participating in a Little League baseball season. It is determined by a standard cutoff date rather than the player's actual age at any given point during the season. Little League Baseball uses the player's age as of August 31 of the current year to determine their "baseball age."
For example:
- If a child turns 7 before or on August 31, they are considered 7 for the entire season, even if they are still 6 during part of the playing season.
- Conversely, if a child turns 7 after August 31, they are considered 6 for that season, even if they actually turn 7 during the season.
This system helps maintain consistency in age grouping across the league and ensures that players compete with peers of similar developmental stages.
